Born in Melbourne, grew up on a farm in North Eastern Victoria, Australia.

Moved to England at the age of 18 and joined Oxford Scientific Films in 1985.

Went on to become a freelance cameraman in 1990.  Directed first film in 1992.

Lives both in the countryside of central Sweden and Paris.
